TV APPEARANCE SCHEDULE:
Rick's been very busy cranking
up the TV appearances. First there was VH-1's "Where
Are They Now?" special and of course "Behind the Music".
Now there are talk shows, sitcoms and even TV movies to watch
Rick in. For the latest TV schedule, try linking to this
website: RockonTV
They have a very up to date listing...sometimes before Rick's
management sends word to us! In addition to his recent
appearances, Rick's past acting has been on display all summer:
check out reruns of his Battlestar Galactica, Wonder Woman and
Incredible Hulk appearances, as well as several of his made for
TV movies. Seems like Rick is everywhere!
"Don't Forget Your Toothbrush":
Rick taped an episode of Don't Forget Your Toothbrush in late
June. This is a brand new show which airs on Comedy Central on
Tuesdays at 9pm. Rick said that the premise is that a fan will
be asked questions about the star to see how much the fan knows,
even if the fan knows more than the star himself. Then the fan
is sent on a trip to an exotic locale. Should be great fun to
watch! Airdate is still unknown, so keep checking back for details.
"Dying to Dance":
An NBC movie filmed on location in Canada, this movie tells the
story of an anorexic ballet dancer. Rick plays the father
of the dancer, portrayed by Kimberly McCullough, also of General
Hospital fame. Airdate has been set for August 20, 2000 at 9
pm Eastern time.
New Show: Rick has mentioned in
several interviews lately about a new show that is being shopped
around to different networks for the fall. While the details
are sketchy at this point yet, the show does have to do with
the tour. The likes of such important TV personalities as Jerry
Seinfeld are rumored to be involved. When we hear more details
we will be sure to pass them along to you here.
AT&T Wireless: Rick
filmed this commercial in the San Fernando Valley in California
on January 19, 2000. Featuring Rick playing a concert at the
fictional "Mervis County Fair", the script calls for
what often happens at Rick shows: fans sharing the show via cellular
telephone. Look for this one to air sometime in February, 2000
all over the US. Lucky RLS fans were even able to be part of
it!
"Martial Law":
Rick aired in the "Friendly Skies" episode of Martial
Law on November 6, 1999 at 8 pm
eastern time. This crime drama airs on CBS and is an hour
long. In this episode Sammo, Amy and an FBI agent (Sammo
Hung, Gretchen Egolf, guest star Rick Springfield) try
to catch four escaped convicts (guest stars Bret Michaels,
Dave Navarro, David Silvera, John Doe) who have kidnapped Terrell
and Grace (Arsenio Hall, Kelly Hu) and plan to destroy Los Angeles
with a lethal gas.
VH-1's "The List":
This show aired on Thursday, October 21,
1999 at 7 and 11 pm Eastern times (adjust your times for
your time zone). The topic will be: Best '70s Band
or Artist. The show features a panel of entertainers debating
a topic. The panel for included: Rick Springfield,
John Taylor, Danny Bonaduce and Michael Bacon. The show
is hosted by Kevin Bacon. This one has repeated several times
so keep an eye open for it.
TNN's "Life and Times of Rick
Springfield"
A TNN version of Behind the Music. TNN is trying to
expand their audience with this special on Rick which spans his
three decade career. This special aired August
31, 1999 at 8 pm but
is sure to repeat again soon.
Look for Rick on
VH-1's "Behind The
Music" in repeats.
The show was a wonderfully deep look into the man who created
the pop sound of the '80s...as well as quite a bit more.
The show included rare interviews with Rick, Jack White, Linda
Blair, Robie Porter as well as Rick's own mum, Eileen Springthorpe.
Even the most avid fan might learn a thing or two from watching
this very special "Behind the Music"
